In 2001, God blessed Mount Zion Baptist Church-Knoxville, TN, with a gift of 20,000 books; a warehouse; and a vision of literacy for underserved communities. The vision has become a reality. Our goal is to share the vision with our nation and the global community.

The Literacy Imperative® develops faith centered ventures for nationwide expansion such as:
- Family Library™ Project launched in 2004, provide beginning libraries for the homes of families in affordable housing programs such as Habitat for Humanity (learn more).
- Center of Literacy & Enterprise™ (CLE) launched in 2003 provide literacy and social enterprise centers for underserved communities in the inner city and rural areas (learn more)
